A Little Hope - Short Film

This my final project short film I worked on for my BA in 2021. I believe that I put in a lot of effort and research into this project along with experimenting many different ways to execute and complete this project which resulted in it being one of the most successful things I have worked on. I've named it "A Little Hope" bearing in mind the message I wanted to relay through this story, which is that "with hope comes power" and to express that even a little bit of hope is enough to keep believing and move forward. It is a short film about a little girl by the name of Hope that is brought up alone in the forest with only the company of a Heavenly Spirit, Mazu, and a little spirit wisp companion, Qi’er. With an ever growing passion for Sword Dance, Hope cultivates her
skills to excellence.
One day Mazu is faced with a challenge from a young Stranger who wields a demonic weapon. Realizing Mazu is unable to
fight against the Stranger, Hope jumps in to be their opponent instead. With only a regular sword in hand enhanced with
Qi’er’s spirit, Hope is almost defeated. The Stranger delivers the final attack and shatters Hope’s sword. Overtaken by the fear
of losing her only friend, Hope looks to Mazu for advise, to which Mazu hands her fan to Hope. This allows Hope to unleash a
new power with which Qi’er is revived and they face the Stranger once more!
